Dr. Ketan Shankardass

Dr. Ketan Shankardass is a social epidemiologist with a focus on innovative solutions for more equitable health systems. Using epidemiology, community health, biology and geography, he aims to address drivers of population health and equity from 'cell to society.'

Dr. Shankardass’ focus areas include multi-sectoral health strategies such as Health in All Policies, neighbourhood planning approaches using local analysis of stress and resilience in geo-social media, and public opinion on health and equity. Outside of academic, Dr. Shankardass works with Health Promotion Ontario to improve preventive-health practice in the province.

Dr. Shankardass is an affiliate scientist with MAP Centre for Urban Health Solutions in the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute of St. Michael’s Hospital. He is also an associate professor in the Department of Health Sciences at Wilfrid Laurier University and at the University of Toronto’s Dalla Lana School of Public Health (status appointment).
