Dr. Jessica Bytautas

Dr. Jessica Bytautas is a MAP post-doctoral fellow.

Working with Dr. Naheed Dosani.

Jessica Bytautas’s research focuses on equity-oriented and community-based approaches to health, aging, palliative care, and structural vulnerability. Her work examines how grassroots and relational models of care can support wellbeing and social inclusion for people experiencing housing precarity and other forms of marginalization at the end of life.

Jessica completed her PhD in Social and Behavioral Health Sciences at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto. Supported by a SSHRC Canada Graduate Scholarship and Research Training Award from the Canadian Cancer Society, her doctoral research examined legacy work in end-of-life care through an ethnographic study of a volunteer-led community hospice serving socioeconomically diverse populations. Prior to joining MAP, Jessica held a postdoctoral fellowship in Geriatrics at the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute, Sinai Health.
