Dr. Mohammad Karamouzian

Dr. Mohammad Karamouzian (he/him) is an infectious disease epidemiologist who is passionate about global equity in health and social justice.

Dr. Karamouzian’s research focuses on addressing health inequities faced by marginalized populations such as female sex workers, people who inject drugs, and those who are incarcerated. He is committed to translating his research findings into effective policies that aim to significantly improve the health outcomes of marginalized populations.

Dr. Karamouzian is a scientist with MAP Centre for Urban Health Solutions in the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute of St. Michael’s Hospital. He currently works on the Centre on Drug Policy Evaluation. He is also an assistant professor (status only) at the University of Toronto and is affiliated with the BC Centre on Substance Use (BCCSU) as well as the WHO Collaborating Centre for HIV Surveillance (HIVHUB) in the Middle East and North Africa. Dr. Karamouzian holds a PhD in Population and Public Health from the University of British Columbia.
