Dr. Michelle Firestone

Dr. Michelle Firestone has dedicated her career to unmasking Indigenous health inequities, and to the collaborative development of strategies and solutions to address mental health, substance use and healing among diverse Indigenous populations.

Dr. Firestone works with Indigenous and allied health researchers, practitioners and policy makers around the world to develop as well as implement culturally validated tools that target the social determinants of Indigenous health. She has developed strong relationships with Indigenous community partners and has played an important role in the mentorship of an interdisciplinary Indigenous health-research team.

Dr. Firestone is a scientist with MAP Centre for Urban Health Solutions in the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute of St. Michael’s Hospital, and an assistant professor in the University of Toronto’s Dalla Lana School of Public Health.
