This talk will explore tips for providing compassionate, evidence-based care and will draw on:
- Experience from frontline clinical practice in hospitals, shelters and community health centres
- Research conducted by MAP Centre for Urban Health Solutions

Speakers
Dr. Stephen Hwang is the Director of MAP Centre for Urban Health Solutions, and a professor in the Department of Medicine, University of Toronto. He is a staff physician in the division of General Internal Medicine at St. Michael’s Hospital, and also practices at the Seaton House men’s shelter, and the Regent Park Community Health Centre.
Fred Ellerington is the homeless outreach counsellor in the division of General Internal Medicine at St. Michael’s Hospital. Fred’s role is part of a research demonstration project run through MAP Centre for Urban Health Solutions exploring specialized on-site and post-discharge supports for patients experiencing homelessness.
