Centre Talks

We are a group of researchers, scientists, clinicians and health care workers who work or who have worked at St. Michael’s Hospital.

Upcoming Centre Talks

We are working to move some Centre Talks, where appropriate, into the virtual world. We miss you, we’re still here, and please stay tuned.

Our Mandate

Our mandate is to explore the context for health research, health care provision and social services.

Value Statement

Centre Talks aims to create a safer and welcoming environment for conversations about health care and well being. We work towards providing a space that respects everyone. We work to be aware of how the language we use and examples we share challenge or reinforce stigma, stereotypes and power dynamics.

Our Talks

All our talks are free. Some are specifically for people who work at St. Michael’s Hospital and the Unity Health Network, while others are open to the public. Past talks are listed below. To sign up for our email list or to suggest a talk, please contact: CentreList@smh.ca.

Resources and papers

You can find a paper by some of our members on the use of the word ‘vulnerable’ in public health literature here. And a plain language discussion about that paper here.
